Golf 2009
2009 was amazing summer that I know is the start of more amazing summers to come.
Starting in 2004 under the direction of Dr. Rob Neal and Karen Harrison with GOLF BIODYNAMICS their team was assigned the task of plotting an individual golf training program for me. In our 5th year together the team at GOLF BIODYNAMICS is constantly adjusting the integrated training program to include a wider range of exercises and drills that enhance both power and technique.

Changes / improvements in measured swing mechanics using 3D Swing Analysis and video analysis design exclusively by Dr. Neal has determined the overall characteristics of my swing have matured. While still a work in progress it is much better than at any time in my life. Dr Neal's detailed review not only directs in an individual program for mechanics of my golf swing but a strength and conditioning program based on my body's real time characteristics. Our nutrition program based on my needs today has been very useful addition to our program as has a local trainer to help monitor my exercise program. A mental conditioning program has just been add and was the last component missing to already tough and challenging program. All of this is a thoroughly holistic approach to integrated sports science. The individual training programs have resulted in some amazing results so far. A 1st place 1 under 71 (no rain) at The First Tee of Sacramento's Points Championship at Timber Creek in February
A spot in the round of 8 at the San Francisco Women's Championship with a 2 up match play win (torrential down pours). They canceled the final nine at Harding Park due to the need for scuba gear to navigate the greens. Who says golfers are fair weather athletes!!!!!
Another 2nd place 74-73 (with one shank and 7 missed 18" putts) at the NCGA's first event of the year at Brookside CC.
The Quarter Finals (74-71 -T11) of the USGA Women's Public Links Championship in Red Tail Golf Course in Devin's Mass.

I am the 2009 California Women's Amateur Match Play Champion
I am the Callaway Santa Barbra Junior Champion played at Sandpiper by 9 (75-71)
I qualified for my first LPGA event at the CVS Championship at Blackhawk Country Club and I think I was youngest to ever get a hole in one in the LPGA at that same event and 2nd youngest to ever qualify. It was an awesome experience to play an LPGA event.
I won 8 of 14 2 day events in 2009 never finishing outside the top 3. I lowered my stroke average by 3 strokes to a tournament index of + 2.8.
Lowered by Junior Scoreboard ranking from 125 to 71 for all girls 18 and under
Played my first AJGA event and finished T2. The T2 finish made me fully exempt for 2010 on first attempt at the AJGA.

Some on the tournaments of 2009
1. Callaway Golf Future Champions Tour - North / South Team Cup - Callaway Golf Challenge Tour vs JAGS Tour - Shandin Hills Resort - San Diego CA - January 10 & 11, 2009
This was a new event for me and I was honored to represent Callaway Golf's Future Champions Tour as there player of the year for 2008. I felt it my responsibility to play and represent a great new junior golf organization in the southern part of our state as they had put on some really first class events in 2008. From the San Diego Junior Maters to the World Championships at Pala Mesa they take the politics out of Junior Golf and put the players first. I met some great new friends from Ani to Marcello Tubert (and his Daughter) who plays Ambassador P from "Cory in the House" It was a great deal of fun. The wind and weather was another story but this is defiantly an event I hope to go back to later this year
2. Callaway Golf Future Champions Tour - Champions Tour World Championships - Pala Mesa Resort and GC - Fall Brook CA - February 15 & 16, 2009
This was a another new event for me and another great event put on by Callaway Golf's Future Champions Tour. Although I finished second in a rain soaked and shortened event it no way demised the success of the first place finisher and my friend Courtney Hooton. She played great and had to birdie to win . I almost caught her but I started out too far back on a very difficult rain soaked golf course. Congratulations to all the event players it was a fun weekend playing in the rain.
3. The First Tee of Sacramento - TFTGS Junior Points Championship - Timber Creek Golf Club - Roseville CA - February 21, 2009
Although I was playing more basketball then golf preceding this event all winter and spring my 1 under 71 and overall group win was an unexpected great start to the TFTGS schedule. The golf course was in great shape as was the warmth and caring of all the volunteers. It was a fun way to get the year rolling at the First Tee. Congratulations to the all players and winners of this invitational event.
4. San Francisco City Women Championships - Harding Park - San Francisco, CA - February 22 & 28, 2009, March 1-2009
This was another great experience. I did realize they play in all conditions rain wind ect at this event and was told they rarely cancel. But I had now way of knowing what constituted inclement weather in the committee's mind to allow for a postponement. I had practiced chipping from puddles and muddy area's. I had putted on the green with with different clubs inclusive of an 8 iron to get ready. However they cancelled what amounted to my back nine after I had completed 17 holes in plus 2 and was going to the 18th. Although I made it to match play and lost 1 up to an eagle to my birdie finish I can not help wondering what might have been had they included all 18 holes. see you al, next year
5. Brookside Junior Championship - NCGA Junior Tour - Brookside CC - Stockton, CA - March 14 and 15, 2009
This was a great experience and another first time event at a place I played a lot. The NCGA this year had expanded its tour to include 15 events as they try to expand there governance of junior golf in northern California. As the largest (by member) golf organization of its kind probably in the world it was a great idea. John Vander Borght and the rest of the NCGA officials did a great job of putting on a first class event at a world class venue. Congratulations to my friend Bonnie Hu on edging me out to win the overall 12-18 year championship. My 2nd place finish was not disappointing having been playing basketball more at this part of the year
6. Castlewood Junior Tournament - JGANC - Castlewood CC - Pleasanton, CA, March 13-14, 2009
It seems Carol and Jerry did not want me playing this event this year. Please see for some of the real facts
7. Metropolitan Junior Championship - NCGA Junior Tour - Metropolitan Golf Course - Oakland, CA - March 28 and 29 , 2009
(sort of)
John Vander Borght and the rest of the NCGA officials did a great job of putting on a first class event again despite the poor weather conditions. I could not convince myself on the second day a 9 iron only goes 100 yards into the wind and 150 yards with the wind. With a that said my second round 80 made driving home a less then gratifying experience. I did lead for a little while until I had a few13 year old moment.
8. AAU Livermore Mystics Basketball - Various Basketball Tournaments - AAU - January 1-May 30, 2009 2009
I just wanted to add a basketball mention to my web pages. I played all winter and spring in either AAU or CYO. It was not only a great way to stay in shape but a great way to learn a new sport. Thanks to Coach Holmes and especially Coach Bowles for there patience and help in showing me I could be good basketball player as well. Also I can not forget Jesse who showed me how to play like a brother!!!
9. Northern California Short Course Championship - JGANC- Santa Rosa Fairgrounds - Santa Rosa, Ca - April 2009
It seems Carol and Jerry did not want me playing this event this year. Please see for some of the real facts
By the way Bob Cazet and his amazing volunteers are awesome !!!!. Some of these volunteers play for Bob on a high school football team. I would name it if I could remember, however these kids are great. As a large amount of fun was had by all. This was a great short course to play and practice short game play. By the way I think I shot a 60?
10. Toyota Cup - SCPGA - Warner Springs Ranch- Warner Springs, CA - April 18 & 19, 2008
This was my first SCPGA event and the first event I played in about 3 weeks. That and very little practice produced my highest combined scores in over a year . It was great fun but bad scoring 2 days. All in all 2 days to learn and reflect from. Thanks to Rob Keller and the rest of the SCPGA for putting on a great event.
11. Sacramento City Woman's Championship - The Sacramento Golf Council Ancil Hoffman Golf Course - Sacramento, Ca - May 17-18, 2008
May was the real start to my 2009 golf season. As basketball for me was coming to a close with one event remaining I started to practice with Rick on a more regular basis. Coming in second is not great for me even it it was a women's event. Congrats to racy Nichols, of Sunset Whitney GC on winning her 3rd straight and last County Women's event as she is turning pro. Good luck and good reddens (just kidding). Thanks to Sacramento Golf Council for a great event and see you next year.
12. Manteca City Men's Championships - Manteca Golf Course - Manteca, Ca - May 16 & 17, 2009
Its always nice to play a tournament in the city in which you live / lived . However after playing and practicing from a set of forward tees for over 3 years I was surprised to have to play from as far back as the golf course would allow on tournament day in 2007. Not far play I thought. That little trick some played on me back then left a strange taste in my mouth. I vowed to win that event some day and show some I could play from anywhere. Although my 69, 75 was only good enough for a tie for 3rd from around 6600 yards it showed me I could play any distance any time anywhere. All in all 2 days to learn and reflect from. great event and thanks to frank for the great hospitality and Mike for a great caddying job.
13. Toyota Cup - SCPGA - Classic Club - Palm Desert, CA - May 23 & 24, 2009
This was my 2nd SCPGA event, 3rd event in May and the best full field event since the qualifying rounds at the USGA Junior Girls in CT. There were 11 of the top 100 Junior Golf Scoreboard players in the field inclusive of the 2008 California Junior Girls Match Play Champion T. J. Kliebphipat, I finished tied for second with a 3 over 147 at a golf course I had never played or seem before. Oh yeh and there was heat over 100 F both days. I do feel feel my game coming into line for the year as the important USGA qualifiers approach. Thanks to Rob Keller and the rest of the SCPGA for putting on a great event.
14. USGA Public Links Women's Qualifier - The Reserve at Spanos Park - Stockton, CA - May 28, 2009
4th time lucky. I made it to my 2nd USGA national event. Shooting a 73 and gaining medalist honors means nothing unless I make it to match play. Even with a double on the tricky 15th hole with Mike's help we managed to finish birdie birdie and secure our trip to Boston. Spanos was a difficult golf course with some interesting winds effecting not only ball flight but putting as well. OFF TO Boston !!!!!!!! Congratulations to all the other qualifiers as well.
15. Callaway Golf Future Champions Tour - California Championships - Quail Lodge and Resort - Carmel CA - May 30 & 31, 2009
This was a another new event for me and another great event put on by Callaway Golf's Future Champions Tour. I finished first with a 70, 74 and a 144 2 day total. The Saturday 70 included a bogey on the difficult 191 yard par 3 3rd hole with the flag masters ( Chris Smeal) tricky pin. Congratulations to all the event players it was a fun weekend that I hope repeats itself in the fall!!!.
There were another 14 events through year end that the webmaster did not list here but is mentioned in the recap. We will endeavor to do much better in 2010 keeping all updated. I won 6 more events from June - December 2009 inclusive of the California Women's Match Play , 3 NCGA events and was the second youngest to Monday qualify for an LPGA event.
